As considered “Gateway to Mount Everest” Namche Bazar is a small “sherpa” village located at an elevation of 3500 meters. The village is a start point for your thrilling mountainous hike around the area and obviously to the peak of the world. It is a small village with population only 1650 approx.
How to get to Namche Bazar from Kathmandu airport?
Unfortunately, there is no road access for vehicles to drive from Kathmandu to Namche Bazar. So, If you have quite a time to spend in Nepal. You can explore the lifestyle of people in Kathmandu for a day and start your trekking to Namche bazar the very next day.
Duration of trek from Kathmandu to Namche Bazar would take 5-6 days.
If you are short on time then, you can either take flight from Kathmandu airport to Lukla airport ( Luka is a village near to Namche Bazar). From Lukla, you have to trek to Namche Bazar and it will take around 2 days.

Take a helicopter ride from Kathmandu to Lukla ( Duration 1 Hour).( Cost: 600 USD per person for group joining and $6000 for private chatering)

Sherpa Cultural Museum
In this private museum you can find sherpa’s cultural objects and equipments and have a glance at the history of sherpa’s. You can find intriguing photos and press cutting of Sherpa Everest summiteers. Have a glance for the one and only great photo from 1953 of Tenzing Norgay assessing his porter’s loads and many more historial photoes related to Mount Everest summit. This museum is run by a local photographer and the fee for museum is just $1.
Sagarmatha National Park
This national park is listed under UNESCO world heritage site so take some time to get around this park and explore some of the endangered species.
Stands at an elevation of 3,000 m, it is mostly rugged terrain made up of deep gorges, glaciers and massive rocks. Wide variety of wildlife including more than 118 species of birds. Experience some of the unique birds and silver fir, birch, rhododendron and juniper trees, animals such as musk deer, the Himalayan tahr, the ghoral, the serow, the wolf, and the Himalayan black bear.
Endangered species which are rarely seen include: snow leopard, red panda, and two kinds of dazzling pheasants – the crimson-horned and the Impeyan, Nepal’s national bird. Smaller animals like marmots, pikas and martens are also found in the park.(Nepal, n.d.)

Food and Resturants – around 30 Resturants in the area so no worry about making your own.( around $10 for normal meal and $20 for a good meal).

The average temperature is 6.1o Celsius.
Coldest Months are : January, February, March, October, November and December. Sometimes as less as (-3o Celsius).
Rest of the months are warm with temperature around 15oCelsius
